More Trends

2009 will see us being more careful and thoughtful about how and what we spend our money on. With Eco awareness and economic concerns on every bodies minds, the major trends for the home can be broken down into:

1. Traditional.

2. Calming

3. Global

4. Energetic.

Traditional

The traditional trend is all about creating a homely feel, think earthy and natural colours. This style is rustic and rural, its relaxed but not twee, think country manor house rather than country cottage. This trend will also re-awaken traditional crafts, and the return to hand made, and home made. Sign up to Etsy and get selling your home made goods.

Calming

Calming is all about slowing down, and getting out of the rat race, the colours are delicate and pale, rose, jasmine, soft mint. It has a refreshing effect on the soul. Think crystal clear cooling waters, and softly draping willow tress blowing in a gentle breeze. This trend will encourage health and well being, nurturing the body and soul. Take up Pilate's rather then pounding the tread mill.

Global

Travelers will love this trend, filling their homes with treasures brought back from far away adventures, either real or wishful! Think hand crafted rugs and kilims brought back from places es like Nepal, India, and hand made wooden artifacts and ornamental artwork capturing the magic of travel to distant lands. This colour pallet is rich, and earthy injected with gold and rich Scarlet pinkie red. It take holiday souvenirs to a new level. Get your passports at the ready.

Energetic

This trend is young and fun, colours are brights and sometimes clashing. Everyday items in these colours become almost playful to use. This trend is energetic and full of life, think brightly coloured children's paint box, reds blues greens yellows, deep turquoise, hot pink, then toned down with deep grey and moss green. Watch out for 1950s and retro objects reinvented with a modern twist.
